MARCEL BREUER 1902 - 1981
Born in Hungary, Marcel Breuer was the leader of the Bauhaus art and design school in Germany before emigrating to the US in 1932. He is credited as being one of the 20th century’s most influential modern furniture designers, architects, and educators.

Building was constructed as the corporate office and research and production facility for the Armstrong Rubber Company
1988
Pirelli Tire purchased Armstrong Rubber Company and took occupancy of the building
2003
IKEA purchased the building and removed the west industrial extension to create a parking lot for the store
2019
Becker + Becker purchased the building to reimagine it as an environmentally friendly hotel
2022
Hotel Marcel opened its doors as a model for sustainable hospitality
